Applied Sciences and Humanities Department

 

Among many outstanding features of this prestigious, premier, pre-eminent Engineering College is the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities. With a view to impart comprehensive education, the students of engineering are being given basic, conceptual knowledge of subsidiary  subjects which can facilitate the understanding of their technical subjects and can widen the scope & range of  their knowledge and skills gained through their specific prescribed curriculum.

The Department of Applied Sciences caters to the needs of all disciplines of Engineering. It provides the engineering buffs with knowledge of basic Sciences and Humanities, viz. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Communication Skills in English, etc.

 The Department has excellent state-of-the-art lab-facilities and is well-equipped with required & desired equipments and accessories.

Apart from curricular assignments, the students are engaged in Co-curricular, Extra-curricular, Cultural and Sports activities through out the year. The department runs various clubs, associations and societies to organize competitions in Debate and Declamation, Quiz and Paper presentation.

The Department offers curricula consisting of the basic principles in these subjects so as to provide indispensable reinforcement to future Engineers.

The Department successfully runs two clubs for Extra & Co-Curricular activities. Our students have participated at various State, National and University level Competitions like SRM University, MMU (Mullana), LIMAT ( Faridabad), HCTM (Kaithal), TIET (Patiala), NIT (Kurukshetra), JMIT (Radaur), UIET (Kurukshetra), Himalayan Institute (Kalaamb) etc…and have won outstanding achievements.

Our students have also participated in Zonal Youth Festival where our Choreography team was commended and Haryanvi group dance was recommended.

The Department is also running a Women Cell which conducts various activities of social & intellectual import. We organize various elocutionary to explore & exploit students’ potentials for communication.

Applied Sciences & Humanities Department aims at the guiding vision and mission is to pursue excellence constantly in all endeavors while providing world class education to produce skilled engineers .The Faculty of the Department is highly qualified with long experience of teaching and research at reputed teaching and research Institutes of the country and is actively engaged in research. Apart from imparting instruction to the students of Engineering courses, the Department has organized various national level Conferences and workshops naming a few -RADSE-2008 on the  current burning issue of Environment,NAIR-2009 on nanotechnology.

The department runs different clubs & organises various intra- departmental competitions to polish their communication and delivering skills also. This is done by their active participation in seminars , GD’s , Debates Quizzes and symposiums. 

Applied Sciences, provide every opportunity to our students to explore and widen their horizons so that each student is able to tap their maximum potential and leave an indelible mark on the sands of time, which won’t be washed off even by the biggest waves.

Chairperson Profile

Dr. Rakhi Chaudhary is currently working as the Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities. She is the part of this institution since its inception. Before joining this institute she has worked at JMIT, Radaur for about two years. She has a total experience of more than 14 years to her credit in the field of Teaching.  She had her Graduation and Masters (in the subject of Chemistry) specialization in inorganic from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, followed by Doctorate in the subject of Chemistry from C.C.S University, Meerut.

She has handled various administrative positions like Head of Department, Convener of Women Cell and Extra & Co-curricular activities. She has also been the teacher incharge of Anti-Ragging Squad and Disciplinary board.  Recently she has organized a National Level Technical Symposium, Azzaro’X held on 26-27 March, 2010. She has also organized a Rural Development program for the villages like Khanpur, Bhamboli and Khajuri within Yamunanagar District. She has also been Convener for Azzaro 2006, RADSE 2008 and member of advisory committee for NAIR-2009 and NCMI -2009. She has also organized various workshops and personality development programs. She is the member of board of studies of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. She is a lifetime fellow of Indian Council of Chemists.

Her research work includes more than 25 papers in National Journals, National and International Conferences of repute. Her research capabilities are inclined towards environment and chemistry. She has also attended various short term courses, National, International level Conferences at reputed institutes to mention a few – BITS Pilani, IIT Roorkee, AMU Aligarh, GJU Hissar, NIT Kurukshetra, NITTTR Chandigarh and Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar.
